SUWANEE — The city of Suwanee wants to see what residents have been taking photos of, and it’s looking for the best of the best by Dec. 31 for its Snap! Suwanee contest.
The contest, now in its fifth year, is open to amateur and professional photographers. Photo submissions should illustrate the Suwanee community in some way and be taken within the city limits within the past two years.
“This competition is a fun way for residents to share their vision and personal photographs that help demonstrate why national publications continually name Suwanee as one of the country’s best places to live,” said Lynne DeWilde, public information officer for the city. “The old saying that a picture’s worth a thousand words certainly remains truer than ever in our go-go, digital world.”
Those who wish to enter should submit digital photos — high resolution jpeg format, 300 dpi or about 2200 x 2800 pixels — to Suwanee City Hall, 330 Town Center Ave., Suwanee, GA 30024 or email each photo individually to SnapSuwanee@suwanee.com. Photos should not exceed 5MB unzipped each and the ideal canvas size is 11 x 14. There is a limit of five submissions per entrant. Identifiable individuals in winning photos must sign a release form for the photo to be displayed or used. A parent or guardian must sign for those 18 or younger. This year for the first time, the city is inviting photographers to share their entries with the community via Instagram using the hashtag #snapsuwanee.
Winning photographs, which will be determined by a panel of photography professionals and enthusiasts, will be exhibited for one year at Suwanee City Hall beginning in March.
The deadline to enter the contest is Dec. 31, and additional guidelines and applications are available at suwanee.com.
