ATLANTA — Want to get prepared for 2014 with a belly full of laughs? Look no further.

On Tuesday, Cedric the Entertainer is making an appearance at the Fabulous Fox Theatre for the New Year’s Eve Black Comedy Explosion.

“It’s an evening of stand up comedy,” he said over the phone. “Some young comedians take the stage first. The first two guys are black and make an explosion. Then I come out and make an explosion.

“I don’t know. I didn’t make up the name,” Cedric added with a laugh.

The famous comedian has been hosting New Year’s Eve shows for several years, so he knows how to keep the crowd happy.

“We make sure to wrap up the show around 11 (p.m.), so I can get them somewhere to enjoy themselves,” Cedric said. “It’s awkward to stop the show for the countdown.

“I’m going to turn out somewhere — maybe a friend’s house.”

Although he doesn’t know where he’ll end up to ring in 2014, Cedric is ready to hit the stage for a night of laughs.

“I always have new material, since I stay on the road a little bit,” he said. “I have some big solid pieces. I like to recap the year with some jokes about the small things that have happened and then I do my observational humor.”

All laughs aside. What’s Cedric’s New Year’s resolution?

Better health.

“The main one that everyone does, I have to get healthier this year, but I’ve already started. I didn’t wait for the new year,” he said. “I’m gluten free. I’m so sugar free, I’m free of sugar. I’m cutting down. It’s all about feeling good. I’m not promising to be on the ‘Biggest Loser’ or anything. But I will lose some weight and take care of myself.”

Cedric the Entertainer is also the new host of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?,” replacing Meredith Vieira in the 2013-14 season.
