BERKELEY LAKE — A holiday decoration at a Berkeley Lake home prompted a woman to call 911 on Monday.
His name is Slim, and he’s been a decoration at Bubba and Dawn Murphy’s home off Duckpond Trace for about four or five years.
“All of our neighbors know about it now so they just pretty much laugh and go on,” Bubba Murphy said.
But the woman who called 911 must’ve been concerned that it was a real man, not a mannequin, hanging from the roof of the home, as fire trucks, an ambulance and a police car arrived at the Murphy home to check out the situation.
“It was just all out of fun. I’ve slid off a ladder before and basically done the same thing,” Bubba Murphy said. “We just didn’t think we’d get the response from 911.”
Bubba Murphy said he wished the woman would’ve just knocked on the door. The couple were told by police to take Slim down, but he’s back up now.
“One of the policemen that came said it really made his Christmas,” Bubba Murphy added.
