The Gwinnett County Police Department spent much of Sunday morning trying to locate a missing person who suffers from Alzheimer's disease and has high blood pressure.
Roderick Stewart, 82, went missing from 4312 Glen Heights Way in Snellville. He resides in a group home with two other residents.
He was found safe just before noon on Sunday, according to Cpl. Michele Pihera.
A resident of a home located off Hapsburg Way called to report a suspicious male inside his vehicle.
"The victim was conscious and alert upon making contact with the first responding officers," Pihera said. "His socks and the bottoms of his pajama pants were wet. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation."
The caretaker of the home physically put Stewart into bed at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
"At approximately 4:30 a.m. the caretaker heard a door slam and noticed that Mr. Stewart was missing. His bed was made," Pihera said.
He has wandered away in the past but not from this current location, Pihera said.
The adult daughter was on scene when he was placed in the ambulance.
