A Hogansville man who spilled his coffee Thursday morning crashed into a Gwinnett County Public Schools bus, and caused it to overturn.
No students were on the bus during the incident that happened at 6:15 a.m. before the school bus began its route in the Norcross cluster, district spokesman Jorge Quintana said.
A 2004 Ford F-250 collided with the bus at Peachtree Parkway and Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corners, and closed one lane of Spalding Drive while authorities investigated the incident and removed the vehicles. The right front section of the truck sustained considerable damage.
The truck driver told police his coffee spilled and fell out of the cup holder while the southbound truck continued into the intersection. The truck driver was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
The bus driver said she experienced neck and back pain and was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth, according to a Gwinnett County Police incident report. The truck driver complained of minor pains and a cut on his knee.
