SWIM/DIVE ROUNDUP: Wesleyan swims to sweep of West Forsyth

Wesleyan’s swimming and diving team put together a dominant performance last weekend in a sweep of West Forsyth.

The Wolves won the boys meet by a 208-87 score and won the girls division by an equally impressive 216-90 margin.

First-place finishers in boys events for Wesleyan were Grayson Blount (200-yard freestyle, 2 minutes, 4.31 seconds), Luke Hedrick (50 free, 24.12), Tucker Cannon (diving, 165.60 points), Daniel Jenkins (100 butterfly, 57.49), Ben Buckley (500 free, 5:27.96), Leo Mateu (100 backstroke, 1:05.99) and Grant Sauer (100 breaststroke, 1:08.10).

The Wesleyan girls got victories from Sarah O’Kelley (200 free, 2:14.36), Gabby Fernandez (200 individual medley, 2:32.44), Caroline White (50 free, 26.08 and 100 free, 56.65), Abby Gardner (diving, 228.05), Camille Roy (100 fly, 1:05.16), Ellie Bradach (500 free, 6:11.49), Carrie Ciccotello (100 back, 1:05.27) and Lillie Baker (100 breast, 1:18.71).

Brookwood splits with Westminster

Brookwood won the girls division and lost the boys division in a close meet with Westminster last week.

The Broncos’ winning girls score was 159-153, while the boys’ narrow loss was 156-149.

Brookwood’s event winners were Austin Harmel (200 free, 1:48.26 and 100 free, 49.14), Anna Jahns (200 free, 1:59.02), Alex Taylor (200 IM, 1:58.49 and 100 back, 56.39), Jacob Rees (50 free, 23.04 and 500 free, 5:06.14), Devan Sweeney (100 fly, 59.90) and Sarah Frey (100 breast, 1:15.62).

Parkview boys shine in Region 8 Clody meet

The Parkview boys notched eight victories in the Region 8-AAAAAA portion of last weekend’s Clody Invitational.

The Panthers’ Jerry Liu (200 free, 1:50.53 and 100 fly, 54.24), Jake Tillery (200 IM, 2:12.84 and 100 back, 59.23), Jacob Finco (50 free, 22.84), Dalton Vaux (100 free, 50.15), Josh Fountain (500 free, 5:07.33) and Davis Stroud (100 breast, 1:08.16) all won individual events.

Grayson’s Jonathan Duran also won in the boys six-dive competition with a score of 116.85.

Edjidjimo, Brinkley win at Clody

Shiloh’s Nyota Edjidjimo and Dacula’s Virginia Brinkley won two races each in the Region 8-AAAAAA girls portion of the annual Clody Invitational last weekend.

Edjidjimo won the 200 IM (2:22.60) and 100 fly (1:05.63), and Brinkley was first in the 50 free (26.41) and 100 free (57.66).

Other winners in the meet were Brookwood’s Haley McMullen (200 free, 2:14.62) and Abby Culbertson (500 free, 5:49.89), Dacula’s McKenzie Fish (six-dive, 126.50) and Hannah Jaeger (100 breast, 1:15.60) and Parkview’s Jamie Freking (100 back, 1:06.77).

Norcross’ Strickland, Eagles boys earn wins

Norcross’ Eric Strickland won two races and Collins Hill had three event winners in the Region 7-AAAAAA boys division of last weekend’s annual Clody Invitational.

Strickland won both the 50 free (22.28) and 100 free (49.53).

Collins Hill got first-place showings from Phillip Jenny (200 free, 1:57.95), Cameron Ogden (200 IM, 2:11.72) and Trevor Boggs (diving, 87.10).

Peachtree Ridge had two event winners, Maliq Williams (100 fly, 58.53) and Zac Adams (500 free, 5:16.10), while Duluth’s Christopher McKenney (100 back, 59.93) and Mountain View’s Jordan Rubin (100 breast, 1:07.21) also tallied first-place finishes.

Erwin, Rummins lead the way at Clody Invitational

Duluth’s Becca Erwin and North Gwinnett’s Hunter Rummins posted two wins each in the Region 7-AAAAAA division of last weekend’s annual Clody Invitational.

Erwin was first in the 100 free (55.72) and 100 breast (1:11.19) and Rummins won the 200 IM (2:23.08) and 100 back (1:05.28). Duluth also got a victory from Rachel Rice in the 100 fly (1:04.27).

Other first-place finishers were Collins Hill’s Lennox Balog (200 free, 2:08.57) and Bria Williams (50 free, 26.79), Mill Creek’s Arielle Jackson (diving, 106.95) and Peachtree Ridge’s Madeline Brickell (500 free, 5:51.20).

Grayson scores sweep

Grayson won both divisions of last weekend’s quad meet that also featured Berkmar, Loganville and Monroe Area.

The Rams won the girls division with 243 points (Loganville was second with 203) and won the boys title with 265 points (Loganville was second with 168).

Event winners for Grayson were Bryce Peden (200 free, 1:58.28 and 500 free, 5:21.83), Hatton Hunter (200 free, 2:22.31 and 100 free, 1:02.81), Mason McIntyre (200 IM, 2:02.55 and 100 fly, 54.05), Makenzie Narey (200 IM, 2:38.09 and 500 free, 6:22.44), Josh White (diving, 231.10) and Isabella Nienaber (diving, 161.10).

Berkmar got a win from Christopher Nguyen (100 free, 53.31).
