Region 7-AAAAAA rivals Norcross and North Gwinnett will meet again for the state's ultimate prize.
Both teams won their Class AAAAAA semifinals Friday night — Norcross rallied for 14-9 win over Colquitt County and North held on for a 27-21 victory at McEachern — setting up a rematch next Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the Georgia Dome. North will be seeking its first-ever state title against Norcross, the defending AAAAAA state champion.
Norcross' Myles Autry scored the game-winning touchdown on a 19-yard touchdown catch to give Norcross a 14-9 win over Colquitt County in the Class AAAAAA state semifinals on Friday.
Colquitt kicked three field goals in the first half by Jose Vega from 34, 32 and 26 yards.
Norcross' James Keeling scored on a one-yard run in the second quarter to make it 9-7 at halftime.
After a one-hour lightning delay, Norcross scored the game winning touchdown. Jordan Noil secured the win by intercepting Colquitt with less than a minute left in the game.
North also endured a lightning delay that made for a long halftime, and also battled through a turnover-filled game.
Ultimately, the Bulldogs' running game with C.J. Leggett made the difference. Leggett carried 36 times for 287 yards and two touchdowns.
North defeated Norcross 36-17 in the teams' first meeting this season back on Sept. 13. The two teams shared the 7-AAAAAA title with Collins Hill.
