DULUTH — As they say, “‘Tis the season to be jolly.”
To help spread holiday cheer for those who need a little bit of help this season, there is a Flapjacks with Santa party on Saturday at the Applebee’s in Duluth.
From 8 to 10 a.m., members of the Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation, Inc. and the 2013-14 Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter Debutante Scholarship Program Debutantes are hosting the event.
Funds raised by the event supports the sorority’s partnership with Heifer International, which works with communities to end hunger and poverty while caring for the planet.
“As we embark on this season of giving, UAO is proud to implement efforts which not only impact our local Gwinnett community, but also will make a small dent in the crisis of global poverty — both domestically and internationally,” UAO Chapter President Karan Rhodes said.
Each ticket purchased includes pancakes, sausage links and refills on drinks.
People who bring an unwrapped toy for Santa’s bag can take a picture with the big man. Toys collected will be donated to the children affected by the Oklahoma tornado that hit earlier this year.
“The debutantes want to ensure the children affected will have a wonderful holiday season,” said Adelma Stanford, Debutante Scholarship Program chairman.
Tickets are $7. Applebee’s is located 2095 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth.
