Mill Creek senior Carter Governale won fan voting this week as the Fans Choice Player of the Year.

The running back earned 45 percent of the vote to win a competition with Collins Hill's Grant McDonale (28 percent) and Brookwood's Jesse Brown (27 percent). Those three were selected for the final competition based on earning the most votes this season during Fans Choice Player of the Week voting.

Governale bounced back from knee injuries that cost him his entire junior season and had a big senior season for the Hawks. He rushed 87 times for 630 yards and 12 touchdowns.

"Carter’s story of enduring two ACL injuries over the course of two seasons is well documented," Mill Creek head football coach Shannon Jarvis said. "His ability to persevere and come back from these injuries is a testament to the character and resilient spirit he possesses. Even during a season where he was not 100 percent, he still led our team in touchdowns with 12 while rushing for over 600 yards. One of the best athletes to ever play at Mill Creek, Carter has left a lasting impact on his coaches and teammates in his journey to overcome all obstacles. His toughness, determination and positive attitude will always be a part of his long lasting legacy at Mill Creek High School."
