Dickens classic comes to Snellville

SNELLVILLE — New London is presenting Charles Dickens’ holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol” — with a twist.

Starting today with the theater’s Dawn Berlo’s adaptation, the Snellville venue’s version combines the classic story and works with a modern spin.

Set in modern-day New York City, Edward “Eddie” Scrooge (played by Joe Simpson) still despises Christmas, of course. After begrudgingly giving his assistant Crachit (Jonathan Fomby) Christmas Day off, Scrooge begins his epic journey.

The classic tale follows his transformation through the assistance of the ghosts of Marley, Past (Marley Bayne), Present (Olive Weeks) and Future.

New London’s performance runs through Dec. 22.
