IDs of husband, wife in Lawrenceville murder-suicide released

LAWRENCEVILLE — The identities of the Lawrenceville couple who died in a believed murder-suicide last week have been released.

According to a Gwinnett County police report, authorities believe 61-year-old Heping Sheng shot and killed his wife, 58-year-old Fu Li. Police reported to the couple’s home at 127 Resthaven Drive at about 2 p.m. on Nov. 25 “in reference to a silent panic alarm.”

The responding officer rang the doorbell twice before Sheng answered.

“The male did not say anything, but gave a slight nod,” the officer wrote in his report, obtained Monday by the Daily Post. “The male then pulled a silver handgun from behind his back and placed it in his mouth.”

The officer “retreated to cover” behind the front door’s molding and ordered the man to put his weapon down.

“The male subject then fired one shot while the gun was (in) his mouth and he dropped to the floor,” police said.

The officer reportedly entered the home after backup arrived and found Li’s body about five feet away from her husband’s, wrapped in a blanket.

Police remained mum Monday on a possible motive.

Gwinnett County tax records show Sheng purchased the home on Resthaven Drive in 2001. Ownership was transferred to Li in 2005.

According to online obituaries, both are survived by a daughter. Funeral services were held Saturday.
