Police investigate suspicious package at Georgia Baptist Convention HQ

A busy stretch of Sugarloaf Parkway was shut down on Sunday as Gwinnett police and its hazardous device unit investigated a suspicious package at the Georgia Baptist Convention headquarters in Duluth.

At 2:14 p.m., a suitcase was discovered at the headquarters, located near the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

"It was determined to contain miscellaneous electronic parts as a donation to the Georgia Baptist Convention and was left last evening around 8:00 p.m. after the business had closed," a release said.

Staff from the GBC took possession of the parts and the road was reopened at 4:48 p.m.

No further details were immediately available.
