YOUTH ROUNDUP: Fury cruise to tournament title

The Norcross Fury Gold won the U17 girls gold division at the NASA Classic.

The Fury outscored their opponents 21-0 to claim the title. They defeated NW Cobb YMCA White 8-0, NASA G15 Premier 3-0, Santos 97 Girls Select 8-0, and VRSA Attack 97 2-0.

Team members are Caroline Mangum, Carmen Toomer, Sophie Zemrani, Erika Beasley, Alexandria Hoxie, Akua Aduboffour, Emily Rojewski, Kelcie Matthews, Lexi Kent, Katy McCorkle, Makayla Clack, Ansley Roley, Lindsey Greenfield, Brittany Doyle, Parker Heisenbuttel, Cassie Langmann and Ashley McCart. The team is coached by Rodrigo Rios and Javier Rios.


Shiloh’s McDuffie shines a Junior Olympics

Shiloh junior Jeremy McDuffie received two gold medals at this year’s AAU Junior Olympic Games with Lightning Spikes Track Club.

McDuffie competed in the 15-16 year old boys division and won the long jump (22 feet, 8.5 inches) and triple jump (48 feet 2.5 inches). He also placed fourth in the 110m hurdles. McDuffie also medaled at the 2013 AAU Club Championships, where he placed first in the long jump and triple jump and placed third in the 400 hurdles.


Gwinnett players to play at Citi Field

Team Elite, which features eight Gwinnett County baseball players, will play at Citi Field where the New York Mets play their home games.

A.J. Moore (Mountain View), T.J. Richardson (Lanier), Drew Wharton (Peachtree Ridge), Tucker Baca (North Gwinnett), Montreal Marshall (South Gwinnett), Austin Upshaw (Buford), Hayden Nechanicky (Hebron) and Griffin Helms (Norcross) will play for Team Elite.

The team is coached by Brad Bouras, Romas Hicks, Shane Hopper and Brooke Richards.
