Offense clicking, Spartans crush Savannah

SAVANNAH — Greater Atlanta Christian raced out to a 27-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 41-6 win over Savannah on Friday night.

“We had a long trip, which was challenging,” Spartans coach Tim Hardy said. “To do what we did which was to play really well, I’m very happy with our effort.”

Greater Atlanta Christian racked up 375 yards of total offense. Ross Wood and Jaelen Venable each scored two rushing touchdowns.

Quarterback Rafe Chapple connected on a 60-yard touchdown pass with Darius Slayton for another score. Jake Rose closed out the scoring by recovering a fumbled punt snap in the end zone. Chapple was 10 of 16 for 129 yards and a TD.

“Our defense really rallied to the ball,” Hardy said. ” Ross Wood stepped in at back and Rafe Chapple was efficient at quarterback.”
