BUFORD — Peyton Wolfe picked up her first career varsity win in the circle for Buford as the Wolves cruised to a 10-0 five-inning win over East Hall in Region 8-AAA softball action. The victory also notched career win No. 200 for coach Tony Wolfe, which was especially gratifying with daughter Peyton starting in the circle and getting the win.
Wolfe went three innings and allowed two runs — both unearned — while scattering three hits, striking out three and walking one.
Kennedy Kotula came on for Buford to finish the game with two innings of shutout relief and allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out two.
Tessa Daniels led Buford (10-, 3-0) with a 2-for-2 effort at the plate that included three RBI, two runs and triple.
Morgan Walters went 1-for-3 with a big three-run homer while Jordan Deep was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Noah Sudderth added a double and an RBI for the Wolves.
Duluth 4, North 3
SUWANEE — Duluth pulled out a 4-3 win over North Gwinnett in Region 7-AAAAAA as Kayleen Nguyen went the distance in the circle for the Wildcats. Cameron Robinson and Amanda Simpson each went 1-for-3 for Duluth as the Wildcats improved to 8-2 overall and 3-2 in region play.
Cassie Kooker, Sydnee Worthy and Haley Wallace each had a hit for Duluth in the winning effort. Kinsley Jennings (3-1) took the loss in the circle for North (5-2, 1-2), while Moriah Strother led the way at the plate with a 2-for-4 night that included a single, double and two RBIs. Emily Dennis and Chase Battle each went 1-for-3 for the Bulldogs.
Mill Creek 5, Mountain View 3
LAWRENCEVILLE — Skylar Hayward picked up the complete-game victory in the circle and Morgan Bell ripped a pair of solo homers as Mill Creek edged Mountain View 5-3 in Region 7-AAAAAA.
Hayward (2-1) went seven innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits and struck out three and walked four. Emile Lawrence added a 3-for-4 night at the plate for Mill Creek (4-2, 3-1) while Amanda Natsch went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, two stolen bases and a walk.
Brookwood 5, South 0
SNELLVILLE — Amanda Ablan tossed a one-hitter while striking out eight in the circle as Brookwood blanked South Gwinnett 5-0 in Region 8-AAAAAA. Kamyrn Tillman paced the Brookwood attack with two hits and an RBI, while Ansley Jones was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Baylei Banfield, Kayla Louie and Tori Gunn each had a hit for Brookwood (4-6, 2-1).
Collins Hill 9, Peachtree Ridge 0
SUWANEE — Jaime Hoover and Calli Star each had two hits and two runs scored as Collins Hill blanked Peachtree Ridge 9-0 in Region 7-AAAAAA. Aeshia Miles got the victory in the circle for Collins Hill and limited Peachtree Ridge to just one hit, while striking out five. Tyra Holliday also added a hit for the Eagles (5-1, 3-1).
Central splits doubleheader
CONYERS — Central Gwinnett split a doubleheader at Rockdale County as the Black Knights dropped the opener 8-7 and rallied to win the nightcap 7-6. Faith Dickerson went 5-5 at the plate with two walks and seven RBI for Central. Savanna Reed added a 2-for-4 effort with a double and two RBI while Jennite Feil was 2-for-2 with two runs for the Black Knights (2-4).
Dacula 15, Shiloh 0
DACULA — Dacula improved to 5-1 with a convincing 15-0 win over Shiloh in three innings in Region 8-AAAAAA action.
Prince Ave. Christian 4, Providence 3
BOGART — Despite a good pitching performance by Emily Barnett in the circle, Providence dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Prince Avenue Christian in Region 8-A. Barnett allowed no earned runs and struck out five, but picked up the tough-luck loss for the Storm. Alyssa Elliott had a two-run single and Katy Barry was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored for Providence (5-7, 3-1).
Archer splits at GWA
MONROE — Archer picked up a victory as the Tigers defeated host George Walton Academy 28-26, 31-29. Archer also fell to Dacula 25-23, 28-26 in the tri-match.
Zanayah Richardson had 11 kills, four aces and two kills while Danae Jones added nine kills and seven digs for Archer (2-7). Grace Henson (seven digs, two aces), Tiffany Cash (34 assists, six kills, two aces), Lanisha Thomas (17 kills, one ace), Maegan Roberts (five kills, four digs, one ace) and Akua Obeng-Akrofi (nine kills, two blocks) also added to the Tigers’ attack.
Norcross takes pair
NORCROSS — Norcross picked up a pair of victories as the Blue Devils knocked off Creekview 25-20, 26-24 and Milton 25-13, 25-15. Shelby King had 17 kills and Sammie Baker had 40 assists and 14 digs for Norcross (10-8). Iana Dingle added 25 digs and seven aces while Sam Marshall had 11 digs for the Blue Devils.
Mill Creek wins two
HOSCHTON — Mill Creek notched a pair of matches over Buford 20-25, 25-21, 25-19 and Collins Hill 23-25, 25-14, 25-14. Buford finished the night with a victory over Collins Hill 25-15, 25-17 in the tri-match. Jennifer Ahlswede led the Collins Hill attack with 10 digs, 21 assists, five aces and five kills while Courtney Oster had 10 digs, eight kills and two aces for the Eagle (7-7). Buford (8-7) was led by Maggie Roper’s 22 digs, 15 kills and six aces. The Wolves also got solid efforts from Bree Horrocks (10 kills, three blocks), Gabby Curry (10 digs, nine kills, two aces), Mikhayla Riegel (18 digs), Myra Sanchez (23 assists) and Morgan Mitchell (14 assists, six digs).
North wins twice
LILBURN — Parkview split a pair of matches as the Panthers fell to North Gwinnett 25-12, 25-11 and rebounded to defeat Shiloh 25-9, 25-22. North also picked up a 25-2, 25-9 win over Shiloh. Rachel Rust had four aces, nine kills and 15 digs while Cori Harber had six kills, one block, 11 assists and 13 digs for the Panthers. Alexis Bourgeois added four aces, three kills, one block and seven digs for Parkview (2-9). Nia Mitchell also had 17 digs for the Panthers. Kinsasha Bell had four digs and four kills for Shiloh while Briana Stith had two aces, four kills and nine digs. Keia Evans added 11 digs and Bebe McEwen-Lopez had seven digs and two assists for the Generals.
Mountain View claims two wins
LAWRENCEVILLE — Mountain View got two wins in non-region action as the Bears swept Providence 25-18, 25-13 and North Forsyth 25-9, 25-21. Kayla Whitner had 16 kills, Gabrielle Marquez had 15 assists, Jordan Screen had 13 kills and Aysha Avery added 17 digs as Mountain View improved to 12-5 overall.
Peachtree Ridge goes 1-1 at Dunwoody
DUNWOODY — Peachtree Ridge went 1-1 in a tri-match at Dunwoody as the Lions fell to Johns Creek 25-17, 25-11 and came back to defeat Dunwoody 25-11, 25-23. Tearra Tatum led Peachtree Ridge (2-6) with 18 kills while Brittney Thomas had 28 assists and Deja Williams had six blocks for the Lions.
Duluth drops two, Lanier splits
DULUTH — Duluth dropped a pair of matches as the Wildcats lost to Lanier 25-12, 25-21 and Brookwood 25-21, 25-17. Brookwood (6-12) also picked up a win over Lanier in the tri-match. Lanier (6-4) was paced by Tori Wyant’s 10 assists and Angela Raez’s nine service points.
Hebron sweeps past GAC
NORCROSS — Hebron took a best-of-five match from Greater Atlanta Christian as the Lions rolled to a 25-11, 25-15, 25-18 win over the Spartans. Regan Long had 11 kills, Madi Grace Easterling and Courtney Civelli each had nine digs and Anna Katherine Wilson added 31 assists for the Lions (13-3). GAC was paced by Madison Kerr’s 19 assists and 12 digs while Tayler McPherson had eight kills for the Spartans (3-8). Lauren Brown also had six kills and Emily Becker added 17 digs for GAC.
Central drops two
SNELLVILLE — Central Gwinnett dropped two matches in a tri-match at South Gwinnett. Meadowcreek knocked off Central 25-16, 25-7 and South took out the Black Knights 25-13, 23-25, 25-12. Teryn Simmons had eight kills, J’Lynn Chester had eight assists and Jennifer Colclough had two aces for Central (0-10).
