Savannah Blue Jackets (1-AAA)

Last week: Had a bye

It’s the season opener for Savannah, which went through a summer head coaching change. Jordan, a longtime and successful boys basketball head coach for the Blue Jackets, took over on an interim basis.

“He’s done a good job,” Hardy said of Jordan. “They look good.”

Savannah had trouble with GAC during last season’s visit to Norcross, but the Spartans hit the road this year. They left Thursday after school for the long trip, hoping to take with them some momentum from their season-opening win at Stone Mountain.

The offense rolled up huge numbers in that victory, with Micah Abernathy nearly picking up 300 total yards by himself. GAC had almost 550 yards of offense.

“Offensively, we got off to a good start and played well,” Hardy said. “We did some first-game (mistake) stuff, too. We’re looking forward to getting back out there this week.”

The offensive line played a huge role in last week’s offensive output, with Carson Cox and Mac Sullivan leading the way.

Last meeting: GAC won 31-8 last year
