North Gwinnett safety Bobby Young won online voting this week as the Daily Post's Fans Choice Player of the Week.

The senior got 33 percent of the vote to win a competition with Peachtree Ridge's Jordan Ellis (24 percent), GAC's Micah Abernathy (22 percent) and South Gwinnett's Gibson Ziah (20 percent).

Each week during the football season, the Daily Post will nominate four players for its Fans Choice Player of the Week. Online voting at www.gwinnettprepsports.com will begin by Monday mornings and will end Thursdays at noon. The winner will be featured online and in the Friday print edition.

Young earned the honor after making 15 tackles (nine solos, one for loss) and one pass breakup in the Bulldogs' Corky Kell Classic win over Camden County.

"Bobby is a true leader in many ways in our program," North head coach Bob Sphire siad. "He had 15 tackles vs. Camden County and was the general on the back end of the defense. His experience as a three-year starter combined with his mental and physical toughness are invaluable to our team."
