BUFORD — Summer isn’t quite over, but some locals are ready to get autumn in gear.

On Saturday, the Buford Corn Maze opens its gate for a season full of fall festivities, including a pumpkin patch, hayrides, an animal viewing area and a 5-acre corn field transformed into a maze.

There is no theme to the maze — just many roundabouts, paths and checkpoints.

For those with the crippling fear of getting stuck in the maze, put those thoughts aside. There are two towers that oversee the entire operation for the sole purpose of helping people out of the corn stalks.

On weekends when the crowds are in high numbers, there are “corn stalkers,” employees wandering through the maze helping people maneuver through the confusion.

For those who want a little fright in their life, the Buford Corn Maze opens its Haunted Forest on Sept. 20. The walk through attraction lasts for approximately 20 minutes. Children under the age of 8 are not recommended into the forest unless accompanied by a guardian.

The maze and other attractions are open to the public through Nov. 3.
