SUWANEE — Two people were killed and another sustained serious injuries in a Wednesday night crash involving a big rig.
According to Gwinnett County police, a Chrysler PT Cruiser was travelling on Shawnee Industrial Way in Suwanee Wednesday when it came to the stop sign at Satellite Blvd. At about 10:15 p.m., the car attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Satellite Boulevard and pulled into the path of an oncoming truck — a tractor-trailer sans trailer.
“The tractor-trailer struck the white Chrysler PT Cruiser at the driver’s side door,” a police spokesman said. “The (car) came to a final rest in the southbound lanes of Satellite Boulevard, and the (truck) traveled off the roadway and into the woods before coming to a stop.”
The car’s driver and front seat passenger — identified as 20-year-old Ethan Ashline and 25-year-old Adrianna Romero, respectively — both died at the scene of the collision, police said. The backseat passenger, identified as 31-year-old Justin Kyall, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The truck driver was not seriously injured, police said.
Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be contributing factors. The investigation is active.
