PREP ROUNDUP: Duluth's Marsh beats Campbell, former player

SMYRNA — Duluth softball head coach Dawn Marsh got the best of one of her former players on Wedenesday.

The Wildcats defeated Campbell 6-4, which is coached by Jamie Burleson who played for Marsh on the 1998 state playoff team.

Hailey Lawace was 3-for-4, Cassie Kooker was 2-for-3, Toni Perrucci and Sydnee Worthy were 2-for-4. Anna Leigh Autry was 1-for-1 and was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts. Megan Sheridan was 1-for-1 for the Wildcats (7-2, 2-2).

Dacula 9, Apalachee 1

DACULA — Dacula’s Keeli Waugh struck out five batters to life the Falcons to a 9-1 victory over Apalahcee on Wednesday.

MaKenzie Vanderhorst went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored and Madison Mosely was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.


Brookwood 7, Loganville 1

SNELLVILLE — Kayla Louis went 3-for-3 with an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases to lead Brookwood to a 7-1 victory over Loganville on Wednesday.

Kia Sewell was 1-for-1 with a double, Taylor Harp was 1-for-3 with a double and a run, Tori Gunn was 2-for-3 with a run. Ansley Jones was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and allowed two hits.

Lanier 15, Monroe 6

MONROE — Lanier’s Noel Petty tossed a complete game in the Longhorns’ 15-6 win over Monroe Area on Wednesday.

Holland Coursey was 2-for-3, Hannah Coursey was 2-for-4, Kaylee Ramos was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Isabell Petty went 2-for-4 and Lauren Pettit was 2-for-3.

Providence 8, Pace Academy 0

LILBURN — Providence’s Alison Brooks had a bases loaded double in the third inning to break open the game in the Storm’s 8-0 win over Pace Academy on Wednesday.

MacKenzie Tuttle was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Alyssa Elliott was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run. Abigail Roberson (3-3) was the winning pitcher, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out one for the the Storm (5-6).
