Buford's Ness commits to UNC wrestling

Buford state champion wrestler Chip Ness committed to the University of North Carolina’s wrestling program.

Ness is a three-time state champion with a 142-1 career high school record.

He won the Class AAA state championship at 182 pounds last year with a 54-1 record. His only loss came to nationally ranked Brooks Climmons from Pope.

Ness has had a decorated wrestling career. He was a runner-up at the national tournament in Fargo in 2012 and placed fourth at Super 32. Last season, he took second at Flo Nationals. Ness was ranked No. 8 in the nation in his weight class by Amateur Wrestling News at the end of the season.

He is the son of Richard and Leanne Ness.
