ATHENS — A Dacula woman has been named to the University of Georgia Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Joane Smith Toburen, an income tax accounting supervisor with Georgia Power, is a 1991 graduate from UGA with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Originally from St. Mary’s, she is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs, a team mom for her daughter’s cheerleading squads and the vice president of the UGA Alumni Association’s Southern Company Corporate Alumni chapter.

“We are so pleased to have Joane join our board of directors,” UGA Alumni Association executive director Deborah Dietzler said. “With her professional skills and passion for UGA, I know she will do great things for our organization.”
