SNELLVILLE — Shiloh topped Central Gwinnett 9-1 in six innings on Tuesday night in its Region 8-AAAAAA opener.
Anya Solomon pitched six strong innings for the win, giving up one earned run on five hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.
Lizzy Humes and Jordynne Baronello each had three hits for the Generals (4-3, 1-0), with Baronello driving in one run. Cliniqua Spear and Sharai Lay also each went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Buford 12, West Hall 0
BUFORD — Buford opened its Region 7-AAA schedule on Tuesday night with a 12-0 shutout in four innings at home over West Hall.
Emily Crocker notched the win for Buford (3-0, 1-0), going four innings with five strikeouts, one hit and no walks.
Niki Cook led the offense, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run, while Jordan Deep went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Morgan Walters also went 1-for-1 with two walks and a two-run homer, while Remington Hasty had an RBI double and scored twice.
Landmark 3, Providence 2
FAIRBURN — Landmark Christian pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to steal a 3-2 win from Providence on Tuesday night.
Emily Barnett pitched a complete game for the Storm (1-6), giving up two earned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.
Barnett also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run, while Brittany Tuttle finished 1-for-2 with a run and three stolen bases. Allison James also had a hit and an RBI.
Norcross, Collins Hill open season
NORCROSS — Collins Hill and Norcross opened their seasons with a pair of matches on Tuesday night at Norcross.
Norcross went 1-1 on the night, defeating Collins Hill in two games 25-20, 25-17 but falling against Roswell 25-21, 25-14. Kolby Meeks led Norcross with 12 kills and 10 digs.
Sammie Baker tallied 36 assists, while Iana Dingle recorded 21 digs.
Collins Hill also fell to Roswell in two games 25-21, 25-16. Top players on the night for Collins Hill (0-2) were Jennifer Ahlswede with 31 assists and Sabrina Saavedra with 13 digs. Courtney Oster led the Eagles in kills with 11, while Imani Walker and Chantel Odabi each had nine.
South gets past Dacula
DACULA — South Gwinnett needed three games to edge Dacula on Tuesday night, coming away with the win 25-16, 15-25, 25-20. Dacula was led by Lauryn Loalbo
Duluth falls to Lanier, East Hall
SUGAR HILL — Duluth dropped a pair of matches to start its season on Tuesday night, falling to Lanier and East Hall.
Lanier swept Duluth (0-2) in two straight 25-23, 25-11, while East Hall Hall needed three games to top the Wildcats 25-15, 20-25, 13-25.
Lanier’s night ended with a split as the Longhorns lost to East Hall in three games.
Wesleyan splits in first match
ATLANTA — Wesleyan began its 2013 campaign with one win and one loss on Tuesday night at Marist.
The Wolves (1-1) fell in its opener to host Marist 29-27, 29-5 but bounced back to sweep Dunwoody 25-16, 25-9.
Leaders for Wesleyan were Emma Bivings with 10 kills, 10 digs and seven aces and Kristen Pack with 10 digs.
GAC falls at home
NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian dropped two matches at home on Tuesday night, falling to Holy Innocents’ 25-10, 25-15 and Buford 25-20, 25-22.
Madison Kerr finished with 13 assists and 12 kills for GAC (1-3), while Kathryn Wilson recorded five kills. Emily Becker led the Spartans in digs with 26, while Maddi Ward followed with 14.
Providence beats Mount Pisgah
JOHNS CREEK — Providence evened its record at 2-2 on Tuesday with one win over Mount Pisgah (25-21, 25-8) and one loss to Pace (25-18, 25-21).
Alex Keller finished with eight kills and four blocks, while Megan Parker recorded 17 straight serves in the final game against Mount Pisgah.
Hebron wins two on road
JEFFERSON — Hebron won its first two road matches of the year with sweeps over Habersham Central (25-23, 25-6) and Jefferson (25-8, 25-10) on Tuesday night.
Alli Johnson led Hebron (3-0) with 13 kills and four blocks, while Regan Long added nine kills and three blocks.
Eden Murray also helped with 13 kills, while Long delivered 38 assists.
