An Amber Alert issued Wednesday led to a police chase through Henry and Butts counties, ultimately ending in a crash in Lamar County.

The Amber Alert was issued for William Kaidyn Stover, who was reportedly abducted early Wednesday morning from a home in Cartersville by 22-year-old Samantha Nicole Barrett.

The child appeared at the scene of the crash to be unharmed. The female driver, identified by authorities at the scene as Barrett, was taken into custody.

Butts County Sheriff Gary Long said a motorist reported spotting the Taurus on Interstate 75, and that Henry County police began to pursue it.

Long said a male exited the vehicle when it stopped briefly near Jodeco Road. He said Butts County deputies deployed stop sticks on I-75, blowing out several of the vehicle's tires.

The chase continued southbound on I-75 until the vehicle exited at Ga. Highway 36 and headed west into Lamar County.

Henry County Police spokesman Sgt. Joey Smith said the woman and the child were being taken to Henry County Police headquarters.
