A U.S. District judge on Tuesday sentenced a South Carolina man for traveling three hours to have sex with an 8-year-old and her mother.
David Alan Wolf, 63, of Rock Hill, S.C., was sentenced in Gainesville by Judge William C. O’Kelley to 14 years for enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity followed by a lifetime of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $5,000 and register as a sex offender when he’s released from prison.
Wolf was snared by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office in August, 2012 when an investigator, operating undercover and posing as a 34-year-old female with an 8-year-old daughter, was contacted online by an individual later identified by Wolf.
Over a nearly two-week period, Wolf indicated that he was interested in engaging in sex acts with the investigator’s fictiticious daughter. Wolf described in detail his sexual fantasies and the sex acts he would perform on the girl, according to evidence presented in court.
Wolf was arrested on Aug. 28, 2012 when he traveled from South Carolina to Georgia to meet the investigator and fictitious daughter.
“Thankfully, there was no 8-year-old, and law enforcement arrested him,” said U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates. “Sexual predators have no place in our community and we will see to it that they are caught, prosecuted, and punished.”
Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said the agency’s investigators work hard every day to keep these predators off the streets.
“The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office will continue to be vigilant in our attempt to apprehend those who prey on our children,” Smith said.
