4 GCPS schools named Schools of Excellence

Four Gwinnett schools received a statewide honor on Tuesday, and can look forward to a visit soon from the state school superintendent.

Head Elementary, Harris Elementary, Mulberry Elementary and Osborne Middle were among 28 schools that have shown the highest performance or highest progress across the state, State School Superintendent John Barge said in a press release.

The three elementary schools were named in the performance category of 14 schools, while Osborne was listed among the 14 schools that made the highest progress.

Each of the schools will receive a $1,000 check from Georgia Natural Gas to be used however they wish.

“These schools are the epitome of excellence,” Barge said. “Their focus on areas that impact student success is evident across the board.”
