Moore named WNBA's Western Conference player of week

NEW YORK — Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky and Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx were named the WNBA’s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 11.

Moore led the West in scoring last week with 23 points per game and averaged a league-best 3.33 steals. On Aug. 6, Moore tied a season high with 26 points in a 93-80 road win over San Antonio She also grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out a season-best six assists and came away with three steals. The win extended Minnesota’s winning streak to 10 games, the third-longest in franchise history and the longest in the WNBA this season. Two days later in a 79-75 loss to Washington, Moore scored 24 points to go with three assists and tied a season high with four steals. Against Chicago on Aug. 11, Moore scored 19 points, pulled down six rebounds, dished out four assists and grabbed three steals.

Delle Donne ranked third in the East in scoring, averaging 21.0 points as Chicago went 2-1. The rookie tied atop the WNBA in three point field goal percentage with .750 (9-for-12).
