Yacht Rock Schooner, Eve 6 to play Gwinnett

The kids made it through their three-day school week. Need a little fun to celebrate? There are two free family-friendly concerts happening this weekend.

Today, the city of Duluth hosts its SummerStage Concert featuring Yacht Rock Schooner, a ’70s and ’80s cover band. The performance starts at 7 p.m. in Duluth’s amphitheater.

This event is an open zone event where alcohol may be brought in from home or purchased from a Downtown licensed merchant. Premium tables are available to purchase for the event. For those on a budget, blankets and chairs are allowed into the show.

The band was formed in 1995, but broke up in 2004 after two singles, “Inside Out” and “Leech,” reached platinum status. “Inside Out” was No. 1 on the Modern Rock charts and on Top 40 radio. During the band’s height of popularity, it appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” and “TRL with Carson Daly.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, picnics and blankets, but no alcohol may be brought into the park.
