Poveda delivers for G-Braves

NORFOLK, Va. — Omar Poveda turned in a gem of a performance for the Gwinnett Braves on Wednesday.

The right hander tossed six scoreless, five-hit innings walking four and striking out six in the G-Braves 1-0 win. The one run, an RBI double by Ernesto Mejia in the eighth, came too late for Poveda to factor into the decision, handing the win to Ryan Buchter who pitched two hitless innings.

Wirfin Obispo picked up his fifth save, striking out the side in the ninth.

Though they scored just one run, the G-Braves racked up eight hits, including a 2-for04 effort by Alden Carrithers. The two teams combined to leave 19 runners on base.
