LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett County police are trying to find a woman who may have been the last to see Darinel Martinez Lopez before he was murdered.
Lopez’s body was discovered on the afternoon of July 28 in a wooded area near his Satellite Boulevard apartment. Lopez’s family had last seen the 26-year-old, believed beaten to death, some 27 hours earlier. Authorities aren’t sure what happened during that time span, but may have a good lead.
On Wednesday, police released surveillance photos of a woman they believe had contact with Lopez at about 7:30 p.m. on July 27. Outside a restaurant at the intersection of Satellite Boulevard and West Liddell Road, the black woman wearing bright pink pants and a black top was “briefly seen in proximity” to Lopez.
“Detectives would like to speak to the woman as a potential witness in the case,” police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said. “She was driving a black vehicle, possibly an SUV, and may have been experiencing car trouble.”
Anyone with information on the woman’s identity is asked to call Gwinnett County police detectives at 770-513-5300.
