Collins Hill grad and WNBA star Maya Moore will make a rare in-season trip to Atlanta this week for her Friday night induction into the AAU basketball’s Georgia Metros Hall of Fame.
Moore, who got permission to miss a Minnesota Lynx practice for the trip, will be the event’s featured speaker and will be inducted alongside former Metros players Kelley Cain and Jordan Greenleaf. Coaches Mary Howard, Thomas Nash and Shari Griggs, as well as team parents Gayla Dillard, Mona Greenleaf and Ginny Manning, also are slated for induction.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Courtyard by Marriott Conference Center at 130 Clairemont Ave. in Decatur. Tickets are $23 for adults or $15 for children under 18. A silent auction featuring jerseys and Jordan Brand shoes autographed by Moore also is planned.
