Disney star to be at back-to-school event at mall
BUFORD — Disney Channel star Stefanie Scott is helping JC Penney and Radio Disney AM 590 kick off their back-to-school promotion with a family friendly event. The event will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mall of Georgia.
There will be a meet and greet with Scott and a “Make It Yours” customization station featured by JC Penney where kids can design and personalize their newly purchased backpacks and sneakers. There will also be an interactive gaming station and giveaways.

Companies give discounts to support charities
ATLANTA — McDonald’s and Six Flags Over Georgia have teamed up this summer to benefit Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities.
ARMHC is a “nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of children by providing temporary housing and support services to families of critically ill and injured children being treated at local hospitals.”
Discount coupons are available while supplies last at participating McDonald’s restaurants in the greater Atlanta area with offers up to $20 off of admissions to Six Flags Over Georgia through Oct. 27 and $10 off Six Flags White Water through Sept. 2. City Hall program
SNELLVILLE — The Snellville Art Jurors, the city of Snellville and Mayor Kelly D. Kautz invite the public to view Melissia Fernender’s artwork as part of the Art on the Wall at City Hall program. The art will be in the community room at city hall during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The exhibit will start at 8 a.m. and run to 5 p.m. Thursday and will continue throughout August and September at City Hall, located at 2342 Oak Road in Snellville.

SUWANEE — The Chick-fil-A restaurants at Suwanee Road and Pike Street in Lawrenceville are hosting a month-long fundraiser for Make-A-Wish and are collecting donations from July 15 to Aug. 15.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a “nonprofit organization founded in the United States that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”
To celebrate the generosity of the community, the Chick-fil-A at Suwanee Road will host a party at 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Guests can enjoy a moonwalk, a dunk tank and appearances from Toofpik the clown.
