In the 10 months since Tripp Halstead was injured when a tree limb fell at his Winder daycare center, the 2-year-old has become a bit of a celebrity around the Atlanta community, which has rallied to support him.
But on Friday, the toddler really got the star treatment, meeting movie stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore on a local set.
The encounter occurred after Kathryn Covert, whose husband Allen is a friend of Sandler’s, reached out to the Halstead family, father Bill said in a Facebook post.
“(A)ll I can say is wow, you never know who is reading your story,” Halstead wrote on the social networking site, where thousands of people have followed Tripp’s recovery.
The family was invited to visit the set of the movie “Blended,” a comedy due to come out next year, at a Flowery Branch location.
Bill Halstead said Tripp showed off the skills he has been working on in therapy, including waving and “flashing that grin of his.”
He gave out Team Boom shirts, which sport the phrase that shows support for the youngster, and Halstead said he hopes to see the shirts make a cameo in the movie.
“Everyone treated Tripp like he was the movie star, it was so cute,” Halstead said.
