ATLANTA — Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter has been named an officer for a statewide council.
Porter, Gwinnett’s DA since 1992, was recently elected as secretary of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia and will serve in the role until June 30, 2014. The PACG aids the state’s prosecuting attorneys in their efforts against criminal activity by providing legal support, budgeting, research and extensive training.
Porter was one of two new council officers. Denise Fachini, district attorney of the Cordele judicial circuit, was named chair.
“We are pleased to have these talented and committed public servants on our council,” Chuck Spahos, executive director of PACG, said. “Their communities, and our state, are well served and we are looking forward to a very productive year.”
In the last year or so, Porter has also been appointed to the Georgia Board of Juvenile Justice and named as chair of the Legislative Committee for the District Attorney’s Association of Georgia for the 2014 legislative session. He has been with the Gwinnett County DA’s office since 1981.
