LOGANVILLE — Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office deputies jailed a Loganville woman on Thursday after they arrived at her house to serve an eviction notice and found several dead cats.
Lila Sue Brennan, of 144 Ozora Road, was charged with six counts of animal cruelty after deputies found the home “littered with urine and feces” and six dead cats in the garage, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Shannon Volkodav said. Brennan was not home when deputies arrived, but was charged when she returned.
“There was no food or water in the garage, and there was evidence that the cats had attempted to escape,” Volkodav said.
Three dogs were also found in the backyard, and while their coats were matted, they appeared otherwise healthy, Volkodav said. They were taken to Gwinnett County Animal Control, where they were evaluated by a veterinarian.
Brennan was released on $3,900 bond on Thursday, according to Gwinnett jail records.
