UGA to tighten security at graduation

ATHENS -- In the wake of last month's Boston Marathon bombings, the University of Georgia has announced tighter security measures for its graduation events.

School officials announced this week that media and photographers will be required to wear credentials provided by the UGA Office of the President at commencement ceremonies. Beyond that, no bags larger than a cubic foot -- 12 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches -- will be allowed into Sanford Stadium, scheduled for May 10.

The undergraduate ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Stadium. A separate exercise for graduate students is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Stegeman Coliseum.

Police in Boston have said that the two men responsible for setting off the two bombs that killed three spectators and injured more than 260 people at the Boston Marathon on April 15 brought them into the race area in backpacks.

This won't do much good as long as the Feds don't do their job.
