The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-State Basketball Teams had a heavy Gwinnett County feel, including four player of the year selections from the area.
Norcross' Diamond DeShields and Brandon Goodwin, whose teams swept the Class AAAAAA state titles last season, were voted the North players of the year in the state's largest classification.
Gwinnett also swept the AA North player of the year awards with Wesleyan's Katie Frerking and Greater Atlanta Christian's Isaiah Wilkins, who both led their teams to state championships this season.
In AAAAAA girls, North Gwinnett's Lexie Brown and Peyton Whitted, Norcross' Shayla Cooper, Duluth's Katie Powell, Parkview's Genesis Perrymond and Marissa Mandeldove, and Archer's Madison Newby made the all-state team. Of the 11 girls honored in AAAAAA, eight were from Gwinnett teams.
Buford's Kristina Nelson and Mackenzie Darrah made the AAA all-state list, as did St. Pius' Jasmine Carter, a Mill Creek transfer.
In AA girls, Wesleyan's Brittany Stevens joined Frerking on the all-state team along with two GAC players, Brianna Cummings and Cii Cii Buford.
Gwinnett had seven of the 11 selections in AAAAAA boys, with Goodwin joined by teammate Lorenzo Carter, Shiloh's Nate Mason, Archer's Randall Smith, Collins Hill's Devin Mitchell and Peachtree Ridge's Amir Warnock and Jordan Capps.
Buford's Kyle Doyle and Isaiah Williams were honored on the AAA all-state list, while GAC's Collin Swinton and Wesleyan's Will Clifton were honored in AA.
