LILBURN -- The Lilburn Police Department has welcomed a new member to its command staff.
The department announced Monday the addition of Capt. Thomas Bardugon. Bardugon -- most recently a major with Gwinnett County police, a department he served for 26 years -- is now one of two captains for LPD and is responsible for criminal investigations, special operations, training and other "major police functions," Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley said.
"Capt. Bardugon brings a wealth of command level experience and education with him as he starts his new career with the Lilburn Police Department," Hedley said. "I am proud to have a man of his caliber join our winning team."
Bardugon's has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's degree in public administration, officials said, and is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
