Gwinnett Daily Post
Two Gwinnett linemen who weren't selected in this weekend's NFL Draft agree to rookie free-agent contracts with teams on Saturday.
Florida's Omar Hunter, a Buford grad, will join the Pittsburgh Steelers for training camp, while Mississippi State's Dewayne Cherrington, a Central Gwinnett grad, will play for the New England Patriots.
Hunter, a 6-foot, 318-pound defensive lineman, was a four-year contributor for the Gators, playing 53 career games, including 31 starts (13 last season). He had a career-high 40 tackles, second-best among Florida defensive linemen, in 2012.
The 6-2, 345-pound Cherrington took the junior college route before heading to Mississippi State, where he was a contributor on the defensive line. He didn't have any major scholarship offers after finishing his career at Holmes Community College (Miss.), but walked on a MSU and earned a scholarship for his final two seasons. He made 24 tackles last season.
