LAWRENCEVILLE -- Registration is now open for summer camp programs designed to promote the development of social and life skills of students with autism.
Spectrum Camps and Clubs offer seven weeks of camp programs that serve children and young adults at all levels of functioning on the autism spectrum.
Programs include weeklong sessions of themed day camps as well as a weeklong overnight adventure. Autism spectrum disorders are a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges.
All camps are staffed with certified educators and medical professionals who have been trained to work with students with autism.
The camp will be offered June 3-7; June 10-14; June 17-21; June 24-28; July 8-12; July 15-19; and July 22-26. All camp sessions are held at the Lawrenceville Church of God, 329 Grayson Highway.

As part of the effort, the Sugarloaf Market Center has chosen to spend the afternoon at the Sheltering Arms Early-Education Daycare Center at 1470 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville.
In the morning, volunteers will sort food and clothing donations for the Sheltering Arms. Then, after lunch, they will have an afternoon play day with the children, including face painting, music, a bouncy house and games.
