TUCKER -- A seemingly routine exterminator call to the Lakeview Estates Apartment Complex turned into a call to police when a man found an elderly woman on the floor handcuffed to a table leg.
A Gwinnett County Police incident report said the situation was reported at just before 2:30 p.m. on Monday at 2802 Preston Lake Drive in Tucker. A listed suspect was released by detectives following an interview after they couldn't establish probable cause.
The exterminator contractor said he was there to spray the one-bedroom apartment for pests, the report said.
When a police officer arrived, the officer said he found the woman conscious and breathing, but she would not talk with police.
The officer wrote in the report that the woman, who is 66 years old and a Decatur resident, did not have injuries to her hands or ankles, but appeared to be in a confused state.
"She would lay on the floor and immediately get right back up, then attempt to walk away from us when we tried asking her questions," the officer wrote.
A woman who told police she was the victim's legal guardian said she had a court order that allowed her to restrain the woman because she would do harm to herself.
Medical personnel attempted to diagnose the victim at the apartment, but eventually transported her to Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth.
