Coolray Field will have a heavy Boston feel in two weeks.
The Gwinnett Braves announced Tuesday that they will host Boston Strong Night at their May 7 game vs. the Pawtucket Red Sox, with the purpose of honoring and raising money for the victims of the recent Boston Marathon tragedy.
Atlanta Falcons and former Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan, former Boston Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek, former New England Patriots safety Rodney Harrison and former Boston Celtics guard Dee Brown will all throw out the game's first pitches for the 6:05 p.m. contest.
For every ticket sold via the online link — gwinnettbraves.com/boston — under the promo code "STRONG," $5 will be donated directly to OneFundBoston.org.
The game with Pawtucket, the Class AAA team for the Boston Red Sox, will be played as a tribute to Boston. Each G-Braves player will switch his walk-up song to a Boston band, while video board elements, in-game entertainment and select concession items will be designed to make Coolray Field feel like Fenway Park.
More events, including details on a silent auction, will be announced closer to game day. For more information on the event, contact Dave Lezotte at 678-277-0320.
