Mr. Phil Floyd, age 63, of Auburn, GA passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar Floyd; and stepson, Joey Waters. He is survived by his son, Matthew Floyd, Auburn, GA; daughter, Amanda Floyd, Auburn, GA; mother, Mavis Allen Floyd, Auburn, GA; sister, Gloria Floyd, Auburn, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Beverly Floyd, Birmingham, AL; loving partner, Cindy Waters, Lawrenceville, GA; stepson, Josh Waters and wife, Joslyn, Monroe, GA; aunts, uncles and cousins; and his extended family and close friends. Mr. Floyd was born August 13, 1949 in Opp, AL. He was a graduate of Decatur High School in Decatur, GA. He was employed as a bondsman for Georgia Dept. of Agriculture in Atlanta, GA. Phil was a Mason and member of the Buford Masonic Lodge No. 292 F. & A.M., member of the Royal Arch Chapter 48, member of Arnold DeTroy Commandery, member of Scottish Rite, member of Luther Palmer, member of Tall Cedars, and was a Shriner and member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple of Atlanta, GA. Phil Floyd was a simple man with a heart of gold. A fellow Masonic brother recently captured the essence of him with the following words, he never sought the limelight, but always ensured that everything was perfect for all of his family and friends; he will be deeply missed. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville, GA with Brother Ed Entrekin officiating with Masonic Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Association or to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in memory of Phil Floyd.
