BUFORD -- It's the time of year that the world celebrates the planet -- Monday is Earth Day.
One of the county's greenest venues is also hosting activities for the eco-friendly day. On Saturday, the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center invites the public to visit the venue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a day of nature and education.
"The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center believes that the wonders of our Earth should be celebrated every day but the GEHC is getting in on the fun of Earth Day, too," said Jason West, director of programming and development. "I can't think of a better way to honor our amazing planet than by spending time exploring, playing and learning at the GEHC."
Visitors can participate in several things, including games, guided nature hikes, crafts, solar T-shirt screening, face painting and organic popcorn.
At 11 a.m. there is a presentation of Owlbert, the Great Horned Owl.
Pricing for this event is $5 for ages 13 and up and $3 for ages 12 and under. Children ages 2 and under and GEHC members are admitted free. For more information, visit www.gwinnettEHC.org.
