NORCROSS -- A Department of Driver Services employee was fired on Thursday after she was arrested on fraud and identity theft charges.
DDS Commissioner Rob Mikell announced Brandi Licole Reed was initially placed on administrative leave prior to the arrest, and had her data and security access revoked. Reed, a Norcross resident, was booked into the Gwinnett jail on Thursday and remained there on Friday afternoon on four felony charges, and a failure to appear charge, that led to a bond of $44,888.
Reed's charges were financial identity theft, theft by deception and two counts of computer theft.
The DDS Fraud Unit assisted Norcross Police with the arrest of Reed, 29, a driver examiner at the Norcross customer service center.
Mikell said Norcross Police notified DDS it had investigated a customer complaint, which was substantiated.
"DDS has zero tolerance for any breach of security," Mikell said. "We train on confidentiality and security and are bound to uphold the integrity of one of our state's most important processes. DDS is committed to seeking full prosecution for all individuals involved."
