BUFORD -- Tannery Row Artist Colony is welcoming the warmer weather with its new exhibit, "Fresh," which opens Saturday afternoon. Artists entered any piece of work that they have been working on for the past 12 months.
More than 40 artists have pieces on display ranging from acrylic paints to mixed media to paper mache. Several people participating in the exhibit are new to the Tannery.
"I think this is more guests artists that we've had had in a long time," said Linda Lindeborg of Tannery Row, who is organizing the show. "Many of them are people who have never shown here before, which I think is great."
Today, Atlanta artist Liana Delgado is judging the artwork, then selecting the winners. On Saturday evening, there will be an announcement for the first-, second- and third-place winners who walk away with ribbons and cash prizes.
"The thing that is most outstanding about the show is that it is diverse," Lindeborg said. "While everything has a fresh element, there's diversity. I don't think I've ever hung a show this diverse and it's just lots of good work."
All of the art is for sale and all of the studios will be open for tours.
The public is invited to attend the opening reception, which is from 3 to 7 p.m. "Fresh" stays on display until May 25. For more information, visit www.tanneryrowartistcolony.com.
The Tannery is located at 554 W. Main St. in Buford.
