DULUTH -- In May, the Hudgens Center for the Arts plays host to the Georgia Arts Network's Annual Arts Conference with the who's who in attendance.
The May 5-7 conference focuses on advocating for the arts in local communities, advancing organizations through better fundraising and planning, and achieving success with innovation.
This year's speakers are Amy Shimshon-Santo and Sheila Smith, with the keynote address coming from Susie Surkamer, executive director of South Arts.
On May 6, the 2013 Georgia Art Awards are given out to "outstanding organizations and individuals within the state's arts community."
Some of the awards distributed during the ceremony are the StART Award for outstanding community arts program, Paula Vaughn Lifetime Achievement Award and the Sam Goldman Award for exceptional volunteer in the arts.
The deadline for award nominations is April 29.
