PREP ROUNDUP: Mill Creek girls lacrosse clips Chattahoochee 11-10

ALPHARETTA -- Mill Creek rallied from an 8-5 halftime deficit to come back and top Chattahoochee 11-10 on Tuesday night, handing the Cougars (10-1) their first loss of the year.

Maddie Beck led Mill Creek (13-1) with three goals and an assist, while Tori Windom scored three goals.

Rachel Gann also scored twice in the win, while Emily Hallberg, Maddie Peek and Abigail Fitler each scored once.

Peek and Fitler also each had an assist, while keeper Jillian Wissell saved 13 shots.


Grayson 15, Norcross 3

NORCROSS -- Austyn Gorski tallied five goals and dished out an assist in leading Grayson to a 15-3 win at Norcross on Tuesday night.

Ashley Mistretta and Maddie LaCavera each added three goals for the Rams (9-3), while Samantha Saunders scored twice.

Anna Scartz and Lyndsay Parris each finished with one goal in the win, while Taylor Denton had two saves at keeper.

Brookwood 18, North Atlanta 1

SNELLVILLE -- Nine different players scored for Brookwood on Tuesday night as the Broncos rolled to an 18-1 win at home over North Atlanta.

Lindsey Thomson led Brookwood (8-7) with four goals, five ground balls and three draw controls, while Taylor Stercay added three goals and three draw controls.

Riley Flack also scored three goals, while Courtney Ross and Brooke Wagner combined at keeper to stop seven of eight shots.

Cambridge 18, Wesleyan 12

NORCROSS -- Cambridge traveled to Wesleyan and knocked off the hosts 18-12 on Tuesday night.

Courtney O'Leary led the Wolves (7-6) with eight goals, while Linsday Moore scored three.

Emily Farrow and Audrey Short led the defense for Wesleyan, while Meredith Distasi had 11 saves at keeper.


Peachtree Ridge 11, Parkview 3

SUWANEE -- Steven Lee of Peachtree Ridge logged four goals and two assists on Tuesday night in leading the Lions 11-3 past Parkview.

Miller Hollstien added two goals with three assists for the Lions (9-2), while Ethan Bish had two goals and two assists.

Connor Rouleau, Jacob Lee and Matty Ledon each added one goal, while Cole Price recorded four saves at keeper.

Brookwood 7, Archer 3

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Brookwood evened its record at 6-6 on Tuesday night with a 7-3 win at Archer.

Standouts for the Broncos were Daniel Monda (two goals, two assists), Lee Collier (two goals, assist), Cameron Free (goal), Joey Lupa (goal, assist) and Leland Alexander (goal).Andrew Dennis was the winning keeper for the Broncos.

Duluth 17, McEachern 3

POWDER SPRINGS -- Brendan Eckard logged four goals and one assist on Tuesday in leading Duluth to a 17-3 romp over McEachern.

Zack Consie and Ben Loyal added three goals each for Duluth (7-5), while Aaron Hind scored two. Hind also combined with Jason Kim to win 14 of 24 faceoffs.

North 7, Marist 6

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett received one goal each from seven different players as the Bulldogs held on to beat Marist 7-6 on Tuesday night.

Scoring for North (12-2) were Joe Whitaker, James Shimkus, Sam Gasta, Jack Ryan, Luke Printz, Will Clayton and Nathan Howell.

Austin Wise and Zach Retsky shared time at keeper with two saves each, while Aaron Amin, Alex Gasta and Kenny Marsche led the defense.

GAC 20, Forsyth Central 1

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian improved to 8-6 on Tuesday night with a 20-1 rout over visiting Forsyth Central.

Leaders for GAC were Whit Anderson (two goals, six assists), Sam Harte (three goals), Britt Kennedy (two goals, three assists), Parker Stevens (three goals, assist), Justin Parker (three goals, two assists) and Ford Higgins (three goals).

Wesleyan 13, Cambridge 4

NORCROSS -- Jake Miller recorded five goals and an assist in leading Wesleyan past Cambridge 13-4 on Tuesday night.

Miles Laughlin added three goals and two assists for Wesleyan (7-5), while Josh Garrard chipped in with three goals and an assist.


Lovett 2, GAC 1

ATLANTA -- Greater Atlanta Christian pushed one run across in the top of the seventh to tie the score at 1-1, but Lovett bounced back with a run in the bottom of the eighth for a 2-1 win over the Spartans on Tuesday night.

Connor Joseph had a pinch-hit single in the seventh to drive in the tying run for GAC (10-9, 3-4), while Peyton McGuire finished 2-for-3.

Patrick Stone went 7 strong innings in taking the loss, scattering five hits along the way.

Providence 11, Athens Christian 2

LILBURN -- Erich Stahl led Providence both at the plate and on the mound on Tuesday as the Storm ran past Athens Christian 11-2.

Stahl pitched a complete game, finishing with no earned runs on two hits, two walks with nine strikeouts. He was also 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, four RBIs and three runs.

Matt James also had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a homer and five RBIs, while Campbell Baldwin finished 2-for-2 with three runs.

Justin Brew also helped, going 2-for-4, as the Storm improved to 12-9 overall and 12-2 in Region 8B-A.

Providence has now won six straight and 12 of its last 14.

Hebron 9, Lakeview 2

GAINESVILLE -- Hebron pounded its way to a 9-2 win at Lakeview Academy on Tuesday night.

Brady Shoppe led the offense, going 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Drew Coker and Lew Stephens also each had three hits and an RBI, while Robby Stephens had a hit and two RBIs.

Sid Turner added a 3-for-4 night for Hebron (9-10, 8-5), with Haydn Nechanicky finishing 2-for-5.

Coker (4-1) also earned the win, pitching seven innings with one earned run.


Parkview 1, Central 0

LILBURN -- Parkview nipped Central Gwinnett 1-0 on Tuesday night for a key Region 8-AAAAAA win.

Abel Nguyen scored the lone goal for Parkview (9-7) with about five minutes left in the second half.

South 3, Dacula 2

SNELLVILLE -- South Gwinnett outscored Dacula 4-2 in penalty kicks to come away with a 3-2 win at home over the Falcons on Region 8-AAAAAA.

Amar Salihic and Malik Thornell scored in regulation for the Comets. The win bumped South up to 6-2 in the region and qualified the Comets for the Class AAAAAA state playoffs.

Peachtree Ridge 3, Buford 0

BUFORD -- Peachtree Ridge posted a 3-0 shutout at Buford on Tuesday night in a non-region match.

Jordan Davis scored the first goal off an assist from Sujay Kalathoor, while Rodrigo Landa and Raul Diaz added the second and third goals.

The Lions (10-5, 2-4) used three players at keeper in Ryan Breon, Nate Gagne and Josh Pence in the shutout.

Norcross 2, Marietta 1

MARIETTA -- Norcross nipped Marietta 2-1 on Tuesday night in a non-region match.

Marvin Mejia and Victor Munoz each scored a goal for Norcross (6-9, 2-5).

Westminster 3, Wesleyan 0

ATLANTA -- Westminster shut out Wesleyan 3-0 on Tuesday night in a Region 6-AA match.

Wesleyan fell to 6-7-2 overall and 1-3 in the region.

GAC 3, Woodward Academy 0

NORCROSS -- Max Gomas had two goals and an assist on Tuesday night in Greater Atlanta Christian's 3-0 win at home over Woodward Academy.Gomas' assist went to Davis Bryan for the Spartans (12-0-2) first goal, while his two goals were assisted by Brendan Dickerson and Miller Kettle. Jake Doiron had the shutout at keeper.

Hebron 7, Towns Co. 0

DACULA -- Cole Redman logged three goals and one assist on Tuesday night as Hebron blanked Towns County 7-0 at home.

Bailey Pinto also scored a pair of goals for Hebron (11-2-1, 7-0), while Andrew Hutto and Daniel Hunt each added a goal.

Joey Redman and Noah Blalock shared time at keeper in the shutout.


Parkview 5, Central 0

LILBURN -- Camille Colston scored two goals on Tuesday night as part of Parkview's 5-0 shutout at home over Central Gwinnett.

Emily Nixon, Kristin Telford and Morgan Fleming rounded out the scoring for Parkview (13-3) with one goal each.

Collins Hill 3, East Coweta 1

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill upped its record to 12-2-2 on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win at home over East Coweta.

Paige Hoover, Regan Wilhite and Paula Maldanado each scored for the Eagles off assists from Jessica Dacey, Kelsey Lawrence and Latia Jones.

Mountain View 3, Habersham 0

MOUNT AIRY -- Ashley Lewis scored two goals Tuesday night in leading Mountain View to a 3-0 shutout at Habersham Central for a Region 7-AAAAAA win.

Gray assisted one of the goals to Lewis on a corner kick. The third goal for Mountain View (6-7, 3-4) came from Bree Britton off an assist from Emily Stout.

Katie Darby had the shutout at keeper.

Norcross 3, Marietta 2

MARIETTA -- Norcross picked up a win on the road with a 3-2 victory at Marietta on Tuesday night.

Scoring for Norcross (10-6, 6-3) were Hanna Shapiro, Jordan Lewter and Maddie Stephen.

Dacula 7, South 0

SNELLVILLE -- Katie McAdams of Dacula buried home three goals on Tuesday night as the Falcons cruised to a 7-0 win over South Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAAA.

McAdams also received offensive help from Makayla Clack and Lauren Vick, who added two goals each. Dacula improved to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in the region.

Lanier 3, Walnut Grove 2

SUGAR HILL -- Lanier improved to 10-5 overall and a perfect 6-0 in Region 8-AAAA on Tuesday night by edging Walnut Grove 3-2 at home.Lanier received one goal each from Casey Wilkes, Tori Wyant and Maddie Corley, with two of those goals assisted by Roxy Amieda and Andrea Araya.

Buford 2, Peachtree Ridge 0

BUFORD -- Buford scored two goals in the final eight minutes of play on Tuesday night to post a 2-0 shutout over Peachtree Ridge in a non-region match.

The first goal came from Caitlyn Dawkins off an assist from Ann Schmidt, while the second was scored by Ceely Coker off a feed from Tara Dambach.

Lane Crawford had five saves at keeper in keeping the Lions scoreless. Buford improved to 13-0 overall while staying 4-0 in Region 7-AAA.

Westminster 3, Wesleyan 0

ATLANTA -- Wesleyan put up a fight on the defensive end against Westminster on Tuesday night before falling 3-0 to the Wildcats in a Region 6-AA match.

Vivian McCoy had a busy night at keeper with 21 saves for the Wolves, while sisters Carrie and Grace Hodges led the defensive attack.

GAC 2, Woodward Academy 0

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian received a pair of goals from Rachel Garcia as the Spartans posted a 2-0 shutout at home over Woodward Academy in a non-region battle.

Both of Garcia's goals came from assists by Taylor Wagnon, while the shutout was preserved at keeper by Elizabeth White. GAC improved to 13-1.

Paideia 4, Providence 1

LILBURN -- Providence fell to 11-5 on the season with a 4-1 loss at home to Paideia.

Katherine Slayton provided the only goal for the Storm in the second half.

Hebron 6, Towns Co. 1

DACULA -- Sarah Boyd logged three goals and one assist on Tuesday night in leading Hebron to a 6-1 win at home over Towns County.

Jordan Lowery added a goal and three assists for Hebron, while Alex Probst had a goal and an assist. Emma Garner rounded out the scoring with a goal, while McKenzie Towe recorded an assist.


Mill Creek reaches finals

DACULA -- Mill Creek reached the Region 7-AAAAAA Tournament finals with a pair of victories Tuesday at Hamilton Mill.

The top-seeded Hawks (18-2) defeated Habersham 3-0 in the quarterfinals thanks to a doubles sweep from No. 1 Colin Pendelton and Travis Hanes and No. 2 Shawn Tribble and Jake Foley. Quentin Lavender also won at No. 1 singles.

Lavender won his match in the semifinal round, too, as Mill Creek defeated Collins Hill 3-1. The Hawks swept the singles points from the Eagles, also getting victories from No. 2 Adam Gonterman and No. 3 Brad Adkins.

Mill Creek will play Peachtree Ridge at 9 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton Mill for the region title.

Peachtree Ridge makes region final

DACULA -- Peachtree Ridge defeated Mountain View 3-0 in the quarterfinals and Norcross 3-0 in the semifinals Tuesday in the Region 7-AAAAAA Tournament at Hamilton Mill. The Lions (12-3) will meet Mill Creek at 9 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton Mill for the region title.

No. 1 Alex Makarenko and No. 2 Jashith Choppara won singles points vs. Mountain View, while the Lions also got a doubles point from Taylor Foote and Niki Makarenko to clinch the match. In the semis, Alex Makarenko won at No. 1 and Peachtree Ridge swept the doubles points -- Foote and Niki Makarenko at No. 1 and Colin Greeff and Alex Peed at No. 2.

Collins Hill's Inderrieden breaks school wins record

DACULA -- Collins Hill split its Region 7-AAAAAA Tournament matches Tuesday at Collins Hill, but clinched a state-tournament berth and got a record-breaking day from Jake Inderrieden.

Inderrieden earned his 56th career victory, toppling Chris Clark's previous record for Collins Hill career wins, in a No. 1 doubles victory with Marcus Maloney. That victory was part of the Eagles' 3-0 quarterfinal win over North Gwinnett that sealed a state berth.

No. 1 singles player Ian Melnik and the No. 2 doubles team of Peyton Rushing and Josh Jackson also earned points against North.

In the semifinals, fourth-seeded Collins Hill (13-5) lost 3-1 to No. 1 seed Mill Creek despite a victory from Rushing and Jackson at No. 2 doubles.

Buford sweeps way to Region 7-AAA finals

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Buford earned a spot in the finals of the Region 7-AAA tournament with sweeps over White County and Banks County on Tuesday afternoon. Buford (19-0) will play West Hall today for the region title.

Colby West, Nicholas Becker and Skyler Wilson each posted singles wins in both matches, with West notching his 60th win in varsity competition. Rob Hunter and Alex Turner also won at No. 1 doubles in both matches, with Hunter picking up his 54th varsity win.

Jabin Stepp and Josh Thompson also scored a No. 2 doubles win against White County, while David Petroni and Avery Turner took the No. 2 doubles match against Banks County.

Wesleyan tops GAC in 6-AA semis

ATLANTA -- Wesleyan topped rival Greater Atlanta Christian 4-0 in the semifinals of the Region 6-AA tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Westminster. Wesleyan (7-8) will return to Westminster today to face the hosts in the finals.

Singles winners were Austin Zakas at No. 2 and Palmer Brasher at No. 3. Both doubles teams also won for Wesleyan, getting wins from Cole Brown and Andrew Dorman at No. 1 and Cameron Anderson and Tucker Cannon at No. 2.


Brookwood blanks South and Central

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Brookwood posted 3-0 shutouts over South Gwinnett and Central Gwinnett on Tuesday afternoon in the Region 8-AAAAAA tournament at Rhodes Jordan Tennis Center. The two wins vaulted the Broncos to the region finals today against Parkview at Rhodes Jordan Tennis Center.

Two doubles teams notched wins in both matches for the Broncos in Alex Adams and Sheridan Schuster at No. 1 and Maddy Stanitzke and Natalie Nabors at No. 2.

Liz Slaughter posted a No. 1 singles win against South, while Gabbie Griffith notched a No. 2 singles win against Central.

Buford reaches Region 7-AAA finals

FLOWERY BRANCH -- Buford ran its record to 17-2 on Tuesday with 5-0 sweeps over Fannin County and Banks County in the quarterfinals of the Region 7-AAA tournament. The win puts Buford into the tournament finals today against North Hall.

Singles winners in both matches for the Wolves were AnnaLea Stevens, Mariajose Ferreyros and Kristin Bradshaw, while the doubles matches were won by Savannah Whaley and Abbey Mitchell at No. 1 and Jessica Thompson and Rebecca Hendrix at No. 2.

Wesleyan beats Lovett in 6-AA semis

ATLANTA -- Wesleyan improved to 13-2 on the season with a 3-1 win over Lovett on Tuesday afternoon in the Region 6-AA semifinals at Westminster.

Savannah Strickland won at No. 2 singles for Wesleyan, while Sarah Settlage won at No. 3 singles. The third point came from a No. 2 doubles win by DeeDee Seaman and Katie Van Laeke.Wesleyan will play host Westminster today for the region crown.


North defeats Mill Creek

DACULA -- North Gwinnett held on to top Mill Creek on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Hawks 134 to 143 at Hamilton Mill.

Mill Creek was led by identical rounds of 46 from Garnett Glaser and Grace Choi.

Wesleyan tops Pace

ATLANTA -- Aubrey McCabe of Wesleyan carded a 32 on Tuesday afternoon in leading Wesleyan to a 66-75 win over Pace Academy at Cross Creek.

Wilton Kennerly also helped in the win by shooting 34.


Clay sets school record for Grayson

MONROE -- Grayson set new school records for lowest team and individual scores on Tuesday afternoon with a 146 to 162 win over Parkview at Providence Club.

Michael Clay fired a 31 for a new school record to lead Grayson, while Connor Dickerson followed with a 33.

Pence shoots 3-under for Mill Creek

DACULA -- Dylan Pence of Mill Creek carded a 3-under 33 on Tuesday afternoon at Hamilton Mill as the Hawks beat North Gwinnett 149 to 170.

Walker Head also helped in the win by shooting a 1-over 37.

Wesleyan finishes 13th in Golden Lion Challenge

SUWANEE -- Wesleyan placed 13th out of 36 teams in the Golden Lion Challenge on Tuesday afternoon at Laurel Springs.

The tournament was a best ball format with teams of two players. Wesleyan's combo of Cody Solomon and Nick Ross paired up to shoot 67 to finish 13th.
