SNELLVILLE -- In case you haven't noticed, the Gwinnett Humane Society has moved -- across the street.
At the end of February, the nonprofit picked up its toys and made a new home in The Shoppes at Webb Gin next door to DSW.
"It's amazing, even though we haven't officially announced the grand opening ... the traffic has increased dramatically. It's been incredible," Cori Koleszar with GHS said.
GHS was renting its space on a monthly basis, at a discounted rate. Once a new tenant wanted to move in, the group understood it was time to move on.
Now GHS has a new special agreement with Bayer Properties, which manages The Shoppes at Webb Gin.
"If we didn't, we couldn't afford it here," Koleszar said. "We would love to thank the management at Bayer Properties. The location is great. We're very excited to be in the new facility."
The building is double the size of the old location, about 6,000 square feet.
"Not only can we do adoptions now, we want to do speciality events," Koleszar said. "We're not just trying to make this an adoption center, we want it to be a community center."
To celebrate the big move, GHS is hosting a grand opening party noon to 4 p.m. April 21. There will be refreshments, activities, animal professionals and adoptions through the day.
GHS is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
The new facility is located at 1250 Scenic Highway, Suite 1712 in Snellville. For more information, visit www.gwinnetthumane.com.
