NORCROSS -- Patrons can support Rainbow Village on Thursday by eating at California Pizza Kitchen and shopping at Barnes & Noble at The Forum in Norcross.
Rainbow Village will receive 20-percent of total ticket prices for food purchased on Thursday for those who bring in coupons, which are available on the non-profit organization's website.

Boat show at Lake Lanier Islands this weekend
BUFORD -- Boat dealers from all over the state will be at Lake Lanier Islands Resort this weekend for the In the Water Boat Show, the state's largest exhibition.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, dealers will be there to show off new products for the start of the 2013 season. The docks are located at Big Beach at LanierWorld next to Sunset Cove. Qualified buyers will be able to take advantage of the show by taking boats out for a test drive.
There will be live music, a variety of food booths and a large interactive children's area. An estimated 5,000 guests showed up in 2012 for the event.
Lake Lanier Islands Resort is located at 7000 Holiday Road, Buford. Admission is free to the boat show with paid parking admission to the resort.Coast Guard offers safe boating courseFLOWERY BRANCH -- A boating safety course is being offered Saturday at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Operations Center, 6595 Lights Ferry Road, Flowery Branch.
Flotilla 29 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lake Lanier, will host the one-day, seven-lesson course, which also serves as a personal water craft certified offering for children under the age of 16.
Classes run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the cost is $40. Discounts are available for additional family members.
Course contents include the following lessons: Know your boat; before you get underway; navigating the waterways; operating your vessel safely; legal requirements of boating; boating emergencies ... what to do; enjoying water sports with your boat; state of Georgia regulations.
Successful completion of the course may result in a reduction in your boat's insurance premium.
The Corps of Engineers at Lake Lanier and Allatoona are offering a free one-year day parks pass to anyone who can show evidence of completing a 2013 approved safe boating course.

Braves, Kroger join forces to Strike Out Hunger
ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves and Kroger have come together to help fight hunger in Metro Atlanta with the Braves and Kroger Strike Out Hunger campaign, benefiting the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
As a resource for more than 600 hunger-relief programs throughout Georgia, the ACFB distributes more than 35 million pounds of food and grocery products each year. Through the Braves and Kroger Strike Out Hunger partnership, fans can help join the mission to feed Georgia's hungry.
Items that are most in need include peanut butter, canned tuna, canned beans, canned soups, stews and pastas, 100% fruit juice, macaroni and cheese dinners, whole grain and low-sugar cereals.
"Together with Kroger, the Atlanta Braves are proud to give back and bring awareness to such an incredible organization like the Atlanta Community Food Bank," said Braves Director of Community Affairs, Ericka Newsome. "We are fortunate to have a public forum that allows our fans the opportunity to help the hunger issue in their own back yard."

Vaccination clinic is Saturday
SUWANEE -- The Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is hosting a vaccination clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1175 Buford Highway, Suite 109, Suwanee.
Canine and feline rabies shots are $10; canine and feline distemper shots are $10; canine bordetella shots, $10; canine heartworm test, $25; microchip, $25; and combo test, $25.
The organization asks that all dogs be on a leash and all cats be inside a carrier. If your animal has had an allergic reaction to vaccinations in the past, the organization recommends that you see your regular veterinarian.
All proceeds from the clinic will go to help save the lives of homeless animals in Georgia.
